The Absorption Performance of Ionic Liquids–PEG200 Complex Absorbent for VOCs

A novel complex absorbent composed of polyethylene glycol 200 (PEG200) and ionic liquids (ILs) was prepared for the absorption volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as dichloromethane (DCM) benzene. We absorbents [EMIM][Cl], [BMIM][Cl], [HMIM][Cl], [BMIM][BF4], [BMIM][PF6], [BMIM][NTF2], PEG200, respectively, studied properties these six DCM The results show that under optimized situation, absorptivity [HMIM][Cl]–PEG200 is 85.46% in first 5 min, 87.15% No obvious decay benzene observed five cycles, indicating an impressive regeneration performance. Furthermore, mechanism liquid VOC explored by thermodynamic analysis quantum chemical calculations. theoretical calculation [HMIM][Cl]–DCM interaction stronger than [HMIM][Cl]–benzene interaction, which consistent with experiment. Moreover, strong hydrogen bonds can be formed between both [HMIM][Cl]–benzene.
